“When we first purchased our section in 2013, we approached Stonewood Homes in Nelson simply because we liked one of their plans. We received a very warm welcome from Vanessa Taylor who came out to look at our site and discuss our tentative plans. From there we moved on to designing our own floor plan to accommodate our brief and to suit the section. Having to then wait for our Christchurch home to be repaired following the earthquakes, and consequently sell it gave us almost two years to really decide what we wanted in the way of fixtures and fittings before we commenced construction with Stonewood Homes in March 2015. Stonewood Homes, especially Rhys Horncastle, Brent Stewart, Phil Johnson, the project manager, and Deon Simpson the builder, were the best people we could have chosen with whom to work. During the planning stage and also the construction stage we made many alterations to our original design and nothing was a bother to Stonewood Homes Nelson to change things. Phil Johnson was an excellent project manager and his organizational skills were phenomenal. Everything happened on the day on which it was planned and as we were still in Christchurch, Phil kept us informed via a special website that allowed us to view progress photos of the construction. The build was completed in early August 2015 and we are thrilled with the result. Five months to build and complete a large house (300m2) is no mean feat but speaks volumes for the efficiency of Phil, Deon and their teams. This is the third large house we have built and certainly the least stress free. The finish of the house was impeccable and follow-up was excellent. We have no hesitation in recommending Stonewood Homes Nelson to anyone contemplating building the perfect home.

Our retirement home in our dream location - we wanted it to be fun, we wanted to be an adventure, and we had the time and energy to make it so. We knew - more or less - what we wanted, but what we didn’t have was the knowledge to make it happen. In Stonewood we found the perfect helpmates. You can, if you wish, make these specialist contacts yourself but why would you when competent experts are available at no extra cost? With these people our choices became easy. We had fun, it was an adventure - and out of it came our dream home.

Hi Brent， Heather and I sold our house and were looking to build again. We saw the big Stonewood sign at the top of Hart Road and decided to look at the show home. The Linkwater was perfect for our needs and after a few adjustments we had the ideal home. I was looking at retirement so we reduced 3 bedrooms down to two and enlarged the garage. Extending the roof over the deck was expensive with other companies but came in at minimal cost with Stonewood. Even after the framework was up, moving a doorway was not a problem. The interior design advice from Sue married our ideas with the design of the home perfectly. The Stonewood team went out of their way to make our building experience a pleasure. The house was completed on time to a very high standard and there is nothing we would change now. The promotional gift and 12 month check we did not expect but were just the icing on the cake. About 2 years ago my grandson and I approached Stonewood as we found ourselves unable to purchase a pre-built home we could afford. They provided us with details of one of their smallest builds and we were delighted to proceed with them. The journey was stress free even though some products were giving the builders headaches due to covid and no supplies. Perhaps a bit longer process than is normal but non of Stonewood Nelson's fault. I have heard of some horror stories from other areas but I can only speak as I find and all of Nelson's staff were a delight to work with.
