The House of the Year Awards for New Zealand’s Southern Region has awarded Stonewood Homes Southland, the Gold Award for creativity, workmanship and innovation in the Nulook New Home $700,000 to $1 million award category.
“We are over the moon that Stonewood Homes has won this award. We have to extend a hearty congratulations and thank you to the homeowners Kerry & Sharyn Wilson for allowing us to nominate their South Hillend, Winton home in the awards and for allowing the judging panel access to the property,” said Brendan Akeroyd, Owner, Stonewood Homes Southland.
The award-winning 420 sqm family homestead was built with a specific design brief: it needed to be a functional farmhouse with all the mod-cons combining with a very classy look.
“Kerry & Sharyn Wilson selected the Stonewood Homes’ Forrest Park design as it was a good match and had everything they were looking for,” explains Brendan.
The house exterior has very clean modern lines with a mono-pitched roof and a well-designed formal entry. Inside, the raked ceilings, centrally located schist fireplace, designer kitchen and feature floor and wall tiles are standout characteristics.
“To win this award means so much to my wife and me, as well as our team of committed tradesmen and women.”
“We pride ourselves on working with homeowners to achieve their desired outcome with a strong focus on quality workmanship. Working with Kerry and Sharyn to create their dream home was an absolute pleasure and we are delighted that they love their home and that the judges did too against some fierce competition in the category. To win the award was really just the icing on the cake, the most important aspect for us was that the Wilsons were happy.” added Brendan.
Stonewood Homes Southland, owners Brendan and Rochelle Akeroyd’s winning home was just one of more than 370 homes nominated in the Registered Master Builders 2017 House of the Year Awards, a competition that showcases the best examples of quality craftsmanship and design.
