CURTAINS & BLINDS
How do I choose between curtains, blinds and shutters?
Curtains create a luxe look and are perfect for feature areas such as living rooms and bedrooms. Dreamy sheers are extremely popular, and when combined with a separate lining fabric are a practical solution for privacy, insulation and light blocking. Pleat style also has an impact. We love the minimalist wave style for a modern look.
Blinds are perfect for smaller windows and spaces where a curtain would get in the way. Block out roller blinds are a popular choice in kid’s bedrooms where bedtime occurs when the sun is still shining.
Shutters are a beautiful statement, perfect for a Hamptons or Country look. They offer great insulation, privacy, and are easily cleaned with a quick wipe.
Harrisons fact: Our exclusive Urban range of curtains are custom made in our state-of-the-art workroom right here in New Zealand. The workroom holds the largest vertical cutting machine in the southern hemisphere.
Fabric and Colour trends
Natural fabrics and colours are very on-trend. The linen look is a popular choice to create a more relaxed luxe vibe. Colours like sand, blush and sage are making an appearance, as are subtle stripes in neutral tones.
Floaty sheer fabrics create a resort-like look, bringing warmth and texture to a room.
Animal patterns are popular for Kids rooms, but have moved away from bright primary colours and feature more muted tones.
Style tip: Curtains that start from the ceiling and pool slightly on the floor will make your space appear bigger and offer a more relaxed style statement.
CARPET & HARD FLOORING
Harrisons NZ made Hard flooring offers the beauty and warmth of timber but is built tough for modern family life. With a wide range of durable, water resistant and stylish options to choose from such as hybrid, laminate and vinyl there’s something to suit everyone’s taste.
We love warm, light wood colour options for homes with a modern Scandi vibe. Cool greys are trending in sleek modern or industrial homes.
Carpet brings warmth to those areas where comfort is key.
Luxury meets sustainability with our Pure NZ wool carpets. A natural insulator that keeps your home warm in winter and cool in summer.
Loop piles are a good option for those who don’t like the look of tracking or shading which can occur with a cut pile.
Options with flecks of colour through them are practical and durable, which makes a good choice for family living.
Style tip: Can’t decide on a carpet colour? Match it to your paint. Our Harrisons colour experts have worked with Resene to match each of our carpets with their 1000s of paint colours!
THE SOLAR REVOLUTION
There are several reasons to add solar panels to your new home:
- The ability to generate your own clean, green and sustainable energy using the rays of
- The immediate savings to your power bill.
- Add a battery and reduced reliance on the grid and your power company, with their increasing prices, and rolling blackouts.
Solar fact: Did you know that solar energy is generated by light, not heat, hitting the solar panels? Making solar a great choice across New Zealand.
